Honouring Heritage – Kilkea Stone Yard’s Role in Restoring Kilkea Castle’s Terraces & Stonework
At Kilkea Stone Yard, few honours compare to being entrusted with restoration and enhancement works at Kilkea Castle—a site rich in history and architectural significance.
In this project, master stonemason Seamus Connolly led the supply and installation of terraces, paved areas, and the renovation of wall, capping, and entrance steps around the castle and its banqueting facilities.
The scope of work involved carefully choosing stone materials that harmonise with the castle’s legacy, ensuring existing pathways and steps blend seamlessly with new paving.
Seamus’s decades of stone masonry experience meant painstaking attention to detail: cut stone sills, precise joints, durable capping and surfaces that stand up to both weather and time.
These works not only restore beauty to parts of the Castle demesne used for weddings and events, but also reaffirm Kilkea Stone Yard’s commitment to craftsmanship and heritage.
If you are considering stone restoration, paving or any natural stone project, take inspiration from this example—and speak to us about how we can bring the same care and quality to your home or business.
